There has been no shortage of news with regards to the future of the album here. How can artists sell more than just singles now that our culture seems to be so quick to acquire and discard whatever music is “hot right now?” Perhaps the answer is in the App Store.

Sonik Architects and BT have teamed up to create Sonifi, a sweet little iPhone App that lets you remix four tracks (Bass, Beats, Synth/FX, and Melody) by using the iPhone’s accelerometer and touchscreen.

Depeche Mode has released a free iPhone App that lets users play with samples from tracks on their new album, Sounds Of The Universe.

Imagine every song carried on iTunes, beamed for FREE to your phone, PS3, XBox, SlingBox, and whateverelseBox comes out next. Yeah. It’s kinda like that.

MusicMetric has released a Twitter app called MuZoid, which lets you tweet the name of a band to @muzoid, and within a few seconds MuZoid returns a link to MusicMetric’s file on the band.
