There were rumors flying around about Yorke having contributed a song for the upcoming Twilight sequel, New Moon. The film comes out October 20th, so I would not be surprised if one of these tracks made its way into the movie.

The artwork is said to be stellar for the 12″, though I’ll have to wait and see if I can get our hands on one to check out.

So here’s a new song, called ‘These Are My Twisted Words’.We’ve been recording for a while, and this was one of the first we finished.

We’re pretty proud of it.

There’s other stuff in various states of completion, but this is one we’ve been practicing, and which we’ll probably play at this summer’s concerts. Hope you like it.

I was glad to see that Jonny Greenwood at least cited the positives as to why they signed to a label. Given that by now the marketplace has changed and the labels have changed, thus the perspectives from many of these musicians have changed since the days they signed on the dotted line. To assume that the major labels are the devil incarnate, and have been from day one, is a misconception though. If it were as such, all of the successful musicians we know, that now campaign against the majors, would have to be cited as fools for having gotten on board with the bigs in the first place.

I’m not for or against the major label. I think whether or not a given artist would be better off independent is completely dependent upon how hard they are willing to work to get their product out there, how long they hope to stay on the scene, and how much of their artistic freedom they are willing to bend on.

With regards to the music industry and music distribution, I think a new means of music acquisition can only happen as fast as the consumers allow it to. So long as labels see force feeding bands to the radio working, they will continue to do it. Independent terrestrial radio is on its last legs, and I think terrestrial radio in general will be soon to follow. With the increasing availability of wi-fi, and the infinte access to custom tailored stations that comes with it, we’re only counting the days until AM, FM, and Sattelite are all brought down by net radio.

A Grammy Billboard Featuring Radiohead frontman, Thom Yorke, in LA

While the Radiohead/Lil Wayne/Kanye West Grammy mashup performance still only exists in the deepest reaches of my consciousness, there are other intriguing (and definitely more reality-based) whispers about Radiohead’s first Grammy performance ever pinging around the net.

The most believable one has the band playing In Rainbows opener “15 Step” with the help of USC’s Marching Band (via At Ease). While there are no big-band flourishes on the LP version of 15 Step, its syncopated rhythm does seem ripe for the big-bass-drum ‘n’ stand-up-snare treatment. And the Grammys seem to have a thing for marching bands (see: “Hey Ya“, “Gold Digger“). Whatever happens, you’ll be able to see it go down live on your TV set this Sunday, February 8, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.

Other performers include: M.I.A. (hopefully), Coldplay, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Paul McCartney with Dave Grohl, Rihanna, T.I. and Justin Timberlake, U2, Jay-Z, and Katy Perry. I am wildly excited. Then again, I genuinely like Katy Perry.

Radiohead Grammy Rumor Mill Goes Into Overdrive is a post from: wax&wires

All of Radiohead’s most popular hits for $5. As most of you know, Radiohead has been one of those bands that have continued to challenge the musical norm; not only compositionally, but also pushing against industry trends by releasing their albums in new structures online. You can catch Thom Yorke and crew performing live at the Grammy’s on February 8th. In the meantime, this is an awesome way to jumpstart your Radiohead collection, since you would otherwise have to buy so many albums to get all of their best songs.

The second album is Depeche Mode’s Violator. Grab all the classics like World In My Eyes, Personal Jesus, Enjoy the Silence and more for just $5. Depeche Mode did a lot for electronic music’s influence on the pop scene, and you can still see their footprints all over their contemporaries. They were way ahead of their times, to the point where if they released some of this stuff for the first time even today, it would catch on.
