We’ve always heard the same example, “A final mix is like a cake. Once you bake it, you can’t get your eggs back.” Well, Audionamix claims to give you all of your ingredients back, so that you can make a new dish with them.

Pearl Jam just released the deluxe reissue of their debut album, TEN a little less than a week ago. As part of the hype for the new album, MTV2 rounded up a bunch of more current artists to cover their favorite Pearl Jam tracks and hip-hopper POS tops the covers.

Israeli Musician Kutiman has done some really cool mashups of YouTube videos. Check out The Mother Of All Funk Chords on his site Thru-You.
This video is bananas, and had to be excruciatingly tedious to make. I really dig the song in its own right, and the fact that it was made from found pieces on [...]

I’m still back and forth on Kanye’s latest release, 808s and Heartbreak. I love the beats and sonic textures, but the auto-tune drives me a bit bonkers after a while. Yes, I just said bonkers. We’ve all seen the remix contests for artists like Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails. We’ve heard the mashups of Public Enemy, Jay-Z with Linkin Park and Radiohead. You might not expect to hear a name like Yo-Yo Ma in those ranks though. Well [...]

Here’s a pretty cool mashup of the Top 25 pop songs of 2008, based on ratings from Billboard. They might be missing a few, and Katie Perry gets a bit modal, but it’s a really great job. I can’t imagine how tedious this was.
Thanks, Kyle Starr, for coming up with another great find!

Saw this on bwacks and it made me smile, so I’ve got to share it. The guy who conceptualized/multi-tracked/mixed it did a brilliant job. Thanks to sitco98 for the find!
More info on the group that does it here (thanks to Kent for the follow up!): http://www.playingforchange.com/
