Van Halen Does Lite Jazz – Courtesy Of Songsmith

Everybody by now should be caught up on Microsoft Songsmith. If you’re not, you can take a gander at our post from a few weeks ago, Microsoft Releases Songsmith, Accompaniment Generator. So after it was announced, it was only a matter of time before somebody took a famous solo vocal and fed it into the innovative program to see what got cooked up. About 2 weeks ago, Brandon Morgan posted this link of David Lee Roth’s vocal from Runnin’ With The Devil, pumped through Songsmith, set on light jazz. Here we are a few weeks later, and some cynical techie has done us the service of overlaying that audio with the original video for the song. To Microsoft’s credit, Roth is all over the place, and the song’s a bit modal, so the program struggles at figuring out what it’s supposed to be doing. Nonetheless, the video’s pretty funny.

For more, check out one of my favorites, The Police Roxanne. There are also versions of Oasis Wonderwall and Radiohead Creep, all fed through Songsmith.

Sharing is Caring!
